Crash in gaim-0.70_1 when sending a tilde (~) over Yahoo

My gaim crashes (SIGSEGV) every time I send any message containing a tilde (~)
over Yahoo. This does NOT crash MSN or AIM support (not sure about ICQ or IRC).

I've already reported this to the gaim developers, but no one there (#gaim on
FreeNode) has been able to reproduce it yet.

Is anyone able to reproduce this crash?
