I agree, #2 is already a winner.

I am not sure, but I prefer to add 'gdesklets-' for ease to search. In
gentoo, they do desklet-<name>display and desklet-<name>sensor, no space
between. In Debian, they put all stuff together in a package and name it
as gdesklets-data.
I personal think I will go for #2 above.
