By default, it's using libc_r... so.. the problem must be somewhere else in
your apps.

I usually do this:
# pkgdb -F
# portupgrade -ra
It works very well on me so far, but I don't have any idea what your
problem is. Joe, Adam or someone should be able to help you when they check
the email.

I use /etc/libmap.conf, because I want this feature so I can play with it.
;-) It doesn't build this by default.
