If you're tracking releases (i.e. 5.1-RELEASE, 4.8-RELEASE), then it's
safe to go with packages.  However, if you're tracking a dynamic branch
such as -STABLE or -CURRENT, you should really be using ports.  In that
case, please see the second part of:
