I use it occasionally when I need to copy files from the Windows partition.

No, the only reason come to mind is that one don't need to install
separately, and thus might be good if you run -CURRENT.

If nobody would maintain it, as long as the FUSE NTFS implementation is
usable I think it's a good idea to axe it in 8.0.
