Panic during boot when DV cam is switched on

Hi,

I just started experimenting a bit with my new Canon MV 600i (it has a 
different name in the US, but it's this year's model with 1394 and 
analogue I/O, 18x optical zoom and no photo facility) and ditto 1394 PCI 
card.

I had the camera switched on during FreeBSD boot-up, but this caused a 
panic or kernel trap.

Is this normal, or should I try again and give full details?
