Card advice sought

This may be slightly off-topic, for which I apoligise.

I would like to put a firewire card in my aging P2-350, to connect my
Canon MV 600i DV (once I get it) and after some negative experiences with 
no-name peripherals, I prefer a known brand. Needless to say, it should
work well with FreeBSD.

Are there certain cards to be recommended? Asus, for instance? Certain
cards or chipsets to avoid?
