Building virtualbox-ose-4.3.24 & gcc versions

Hello,
First, I'm using ports with portmaster, not pre-built packages.
For quite some time I've had lang/gcc48 (not lang/gcc) installed, with
DEFAULT_VERSIONS=python=2.7 python2=2.7 gcc=4.8 bdb=5
GCC_DEFAULT_VERSION=4.8
in /etc/make.conf.
I decided to try lang/gcc49 instead. I deleted lang/gcc48, installed
lang/gcc49, and edited /etc/make.conf changing 4.8 to 4.9.
However, when I try to build the most recent virtualbox, the build still
tries to use gcc48 which doesn't exist any more.
Any suggestions? I virtualbox doesn't seem to depend on any gcc, and
I've no idea where it's pulling gcc48 from.
Thanks
