Judging by trasz@'s reply on stable to the thread that included this PR[1],
it should not. Of course, I am no release engineer nor particularly
knowledgeable about ABI compatibility in general.

I would hope that  trazs@ and emaste@ as reviewers, or dchagin@ as author of
the code in question, could comment on this.
