Some linux ports may use the linux bash (e.g. vendor supplied wrapper  
scripts) and the tools you proposed are basic utilities which may be  
used by such scripts. Those scripts depend upon the behavior of the  
linux versions. Some of the tools don't have the same behavior or  
options than the FreeBSD ones. So we can not really replace them
