I thought about this as well. I came to the conclusion that I need to  
have a look at the FreeBSD mmap code and to see if we have different  
code on ia64, sparc64 and ppc than on ia32/amd64. If we have different  
code there, it makes sense to have the linux_mmap MD. But this assumes  
we will get linuxulator stuff for another architecture where different  
MD code is needed. We could say that we should keep it MI until real  
MD code is needed...

You could make a table in the wiki which lists those parts which are  
MD currently but can be made MI. It would allow more people to look at  
the code in question and comment the proposal.
