It was during my Visayas trip on the
Philippine Siren in August of 2011, that I had first heard of Bull
sharks in Palau. I had been to Palau many times but had never seen what
is considered to be the most unpredictable and aggressive of all sharks. 

The boat manager on the Siren mentioned that her boyfriend was a Marine
biologist and that they had been encountering bull sharks during a study
they were conducting in Palau. I thought to
myself, "I want a piece of that action". This wasn't to be a guided tour,
but an off the beaten track, no
holds barred, gonzo diving sort of thing. This is my diary of how it all
went down...

These days, the Digital SLR
market is no longer aimed purely at professional photographers and is
much more friendly to beginners and amateurs. Even at the
lowest end, there are cheap DLSRs on offer that can be a huge step up
from owning a compact camera. Like with all things, the key to getting
what you need is doing your research. To get you started on the right
path, here are a few things to consider.

Buying your first digital SLR
can be very exciting and once you have it in your hands, it can easily
become an obsession. Just remember to take your time getting to know
your camera before you lash out on all the bells and whistles.  It is
tempting to go out and buy filters, lenses, wireless flash rigs,
lighting and all manner of cool toys but until you know the ins and outs of
your camera, you wont be getting the most out of them.  Instead buy
new gear only when you need it because your current gear can't do something
specific that you are attempting to achieve.
