http://wiki.freebsd.org/KDE4/Install correctly details the way to start KDE4 with kdm; by adding the following lines to /etc/rc.conf:

local_startup="${local_startup} /usr/local/kde4/etc/rc.d"
kdm4_enable="YES"

This directly contradicts the handbook section which still recommends editing /etc/ttys and un-commenting the ttyv8 line.

Recommendation: Update secion 5.7.3.1 of the handbook with the correct information from the FreeBSD wiki.
