Hello
Could you possible add the following text with correct docbook formatting to the
FreeBSD Handbook section 5.7 Desktop Environments:
(Note: The binary package doesn't yet exist, but probably should be created
soonish. The following ports already exists:
http://io.ethz.ch/~tar/freebsd/gnustep/ports.txt (the last five are going
to be processed))
GNUstep
About GNUstep
GNUstep is a cross-platform, object-oriented framework for desktop
application development. Based on the OpenStep specification originally
created by NeXT (now Apple), GNUstep enables developers to rapidly build
sophisticated software by employing a large library of reusable software
components. GNUstep is used in production environments at several
organizations.
Installing GNUstep
A binary package for GNUstep exists (at the time of writing).
To install, simply type:
# pkg_add -r gnustep
Alternatively, to build from source, use the ports collection:
# cd /usr/ports/devel/gnustep
# make install clean
Now, tell the X server to launch GNUstep the next time X is
started. Simply type this:
% echo "exec wmaker" > ~/.xinitrc
Now, whenever the X Window System is invoked with startx,
GNUstep will be the desktop.
Anti-aliased Fonts with GNUstep
% defaults write NSGlobalDomain GSBackend libgnustep-art
Yours,
Guerkan
