Don't know about these.  I know that the PDF renditions on the FTP 
server break from time to time...I'm not sure why this happens.  I 
can almost always generate the Handbook from my local sources with no 
problems, so...???...

Interesting.  This I *have* seen in another document.  Something I
recognize is that these are all trademarks (i.e. implemented using
trademark entities).

(The other document is the "Roadmap to 5-STABLE", which I recently made 
a few trivial edits on.  I usually work from PDF renditions when I edit 
documents.  Oh yes, I made my own PDF files, so this particular problem 
isn't peculiar to the versions on the FTP server.)
