getting "error 2, start the debugger etc." message... any suggestions?

greetings,

i am new to the forum and kinda to bsd... anyway, i just installed bsd on an 
amd system and got an error message when running through the distribution 
process for 3rd party software, it gives an 'error 2, start the debugger' 
message... any suggestions?  this is an iso image of 5.1 release...

appreciate any info.
