Q: Is there any use for Oracle database port installation under
Linux compat root ?

I would suggest to install under $ORACLE_HOME, defaulted to:
ORACLE_HOME?= ${PREFIX}/oracle
(or may be ${PREFIX}/oracle${VERSION} to allow the installation of
different versions)
