I plainly agree with James T. Koerting that, for the reasons he clearly stated,
this should not be kept as an open bug.

As an ezjail user, I'd rather suggest to keep the per-jail configuration via
jail_* variables until there is a reliable solution to drop it. Even until 13.0
or 14.0 if this is necessary.

I do not want to replace ezjail by unreliable or "fat" tools and hope the
authors of jail(8) will find a solution and/or take the config file management
functionality proposed by erdgeist into consideration.
