Done; seems to work:

FreeBSD g1-227.catwhisker.org 10.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT #700 241344M: Mon Oct  8 06:20:59 PDT 2012     root at g1-227.catwhisker.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/CANARY  i386

No whines in /var/log/messages or console (about "in_cksum_skip:
out of data by ....", at least).
