Are you running something that's using dri? i.e. 'glxinfo |head'
shows 'direct rendering: Yes'
I can't recall, but I'm not sure the default VESA driver has any
acceleration. You probably need to use the i915 drivers.

This should show 'disable' underlined when switched, also chrome://gpu
should show green for the 'Graphics Feature Status' and command lines
args should show '--flag-switches-begin --ignore-gpu-blacklist
- --flag-switches-end'
