"So what's FreeBSD doing at Linux World...?"

I've come across this article before.  What struck me as interesting  
the first time I read it is the following sentence:

"In many ways, FreeBSD has always been the operating system that  
GNU/Linux®-based operating systems should have been."

Given this position, I find it curious that IBM chose to put the  
majority of their push behind Linux.

Does anyone know if they use FreeBSD internally, and if so, for what?
