This seems to be a FDT/loader thing; others will know more about what
it means.

No it’s not pointless. The more use cases we can make sure work, the
better.
Testing SD cards would also be great to know they work well.
On a nanopi I am currently chasing (and running a disect):
- sdda sometimes created long after init started when running root from
an mdimage
- very poor write performance on the SD (which wasn’t the case)
- a more-or-less random hang in g_waitidle when user space starts up
