Mp3 player (or other sound player) on RPI2?

Mpg123 apparently has a bad incompatibility with the desired bitrate on
the default audio interface and produces only noise.  "Espeak" works....
but I'd like to be able to play a Mp3 file..... is there a command-line
tool that works on the Rpi/Rpi2?
