: You will need a FreeBSD machine to build FreeBSD.
FreeBSD will also run inside of a VMWare instance, or a VirtualBox
machine (or qemu or a bunch of others). I use that all the time to
develop FreeBSD.

: Any computer running FreeBSD 8.0 will be able to build the code.
Anything more modern than a Penitum 2 will work. Anything built in
the last 3 years will work pretty well. Nahalem's work even better :)
You'll need about 1GB or so of disk space. If you are provisioning a
VM, 512MB of RAM or more is recommended.
