Ewald
I see you have 128G of ram in the system , How long did you wait before
you decided the box was locked up ? I ask as the default memory test on 9.1
can take a long time to test the ram . Can you boot of the box with the
following option enabled ? "hw.memtest.tests=0" and let me know what the
result it. Also have you applied the latest HP firmware updates via SPP
2013-02 to the box ? If not can you do this and let us know if this
improves the situation.

Upon trying to install FreeBSD 9.1 amd64 on a HP Proliant DL580G5 the syste=
m freezes/hangs. Last message appearing at the console is<br>
"usbus0: 12Mbps Full Speed USB v1.0"<br>
<br>
Already tried the following:<br>
o) booting verbose vs. non-verbose<br>
o) instead of booting into the installer go for single user mode<br>
o) check variable settings - interestingly enough "kern.eventtimer.cho=
ice" is empty<br>
o) tried booting with modified "kern.eventtimer.periodic" setting=
s (0 vs. 1)<br>
<br>
Whatever I tried the system freezes at exactly the same situation.<br>
<br>
I also posted a message to freebsd-questions on June 6 2013 - subject "=

t the tips that came back as an answer also didn' help.<br>
