Thank you for your kindly reply.
My freeBSD is version 9 amd64, and the driver version is the newest, 2.4.5 from intel official site.

[root at fish ~]# uname -a
FreeBSD fish 9.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE #0: Tue Jan  3 07:46:30 UTC 2012     root at farrell.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC  amd64
[root at fish ~]# dmesg |grep ether
pci6: <network, ethernet> at device 0.0 (no driver attached)
pci6: <network, ethernet> at device 0.1 (no driver attached)
[root at fish ~]# kldload ixgbe
kldload: can't load ixgbe: File exists
[root at fish ~]# 

I have installed several Intel X520-4 10GbE cards on Linux, kernel 2.6.18 with the Intel driver version 3.11.8, all of them are working properly.
I want to set up a MooseFS system on FreeBSD, because of "The Power to Serve".

What version of FreeBSD are you using?  If you applied an Intel driver
manually, what's the version of the driver?  What was the hardware PCI
IDs?
