fails to boot -- Dell M600 Blade

When the kernel is loading, it hangs with the last message showing:
atrtc0: <AT realtime clock> port 0x70-0x7f irq 8 on acpi0

Seems to have started in 7, still present in 8.0 RC3. i386 works, it's just amd64 that fails.
