FreeBSD/AMD64 6.1-Beta4: Strange problem with install CDs boot

I downloaded last week and installed without problems on a eMachine
C6423 (with nvidia graphics card even).
It was working beautifully until I updated to -current and now I am
having problems. Nothing wrong with the boot CDs though.
