 I've got RELENG_6 and it works fine:
 ###
 dmesg | grep ^acd
 acd0: CDRW <HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8240B/1.07> at ata1-master PIO4
 acd1: DMA limited to UDMA33, device found non-ATA66 cable
 acd1: DVDR <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1653S/CS0K> at ata1-slave UDMA33
