Hello,
I've conducted a small and meaningless test using the above two machines.
DL380: 2x3,6 GHz Xeon/800 FSB, 2 GB memory
V20z: 2x2,4 GHz Opteron 250/800 MHz FSB, 4 GB memory
Each of them are running FreeBSD/amd64 5-STABLE, however the DL380 lags
a bit (built in february).
The test was to compile (make buildworld) the actual RELENG_5 branch
with different concurrency. On the DL380 HTT was enabled.
The results are the following:
Concurrency 1 2 4 8
HP DL380G4 31:24.32 19:12.99 17:36.09 17:44.53
Sun V20z 27:53.66 15:55.28 15:57.86 16:16.16
For the dmesgs and the detailed timing info, please take a look at:
http://hup.hu/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8230
The site is in hungarian, but it is obvious to get the interesting info
out of it.
FreeBSD rocks on this machine. :)
