This may be slightly OT, but I suggest that you take a look at mplayer.
It has excellent TV support and is way ahead of the other TV
applications in terms of picture quality.
(Try something like: mplayer -tv
driver=bsdbt848:input=1:channels=SE14-BBC,SE9-3sat,E10-ARD,E8-ZDF,SE4-arte,S22-WDR tv://)
