shared libraries support broken on amd64 -CURRENT?

Here is the ./configure output of the two machines during make:

Reineke# make

..

Grimbart# make

checking if libtool supports shared libraries... yes
checking whether to build shared libraries... yes
checking whether to build static libraries... yes
..

Reineke does not find the dynamic linker characteristics; what does
this mean? What can I do? Any problem with rtld(1)?
