CPUTYPE=ev67 breaks ld and as on DS20E

Hi,

i noticed on 5.4-RELEASE that building the world with CPUTYPE=ev67 set 
breaks /usr/bin/as and /usr/bin/ld.

I can easily reproduce this behavior. My first thought of -O2 being the 
reason was wrong.

Can anyone confirm this problem?
Or do you need more information?
