PATCH to make de(4) MPSAFE

I've hacked on the de(4) driver to make it run without Giant.  It's been 
working fine for over a day now on my ds20 and I wanted to submit the patch 
for wider testing.  Note that it doesn't handle all the edge cases on 
multiport cards however.  Patch is at
