No.

No, it hasn't been disabled - I've examined the logs. The ACPI modules have
been loaded, and so on.

Meanwhile I made a try using Freesbie 1.1 (FreeBSD live-CD from 2004). It
has been loaded quite normally, it detected ACPI, I was able to shut the
system down using power button...
