AFAIK, Linux's k8temp is CPU on-die thermal sensor driver.  
acpi_thermal is not.  For Intel Core CPUs, we have coretemp(4) 
(thanks to Google SoC2007) but we don't have anything like that for 
AMD processors.  (Any taker?)
