I almost always use 'shutdown -r now' or a plain 'reboot' command.
I think my problem here is that I'm missing some step, or something. I
did eventually get the alias defined that I wanted to have defined, but
I can't tell what it is that I do differently in the times where the
'nvalias' works vs. the times that it does not work. It does seem that
I have to do more than just the 'nvalias' command. In any case, I seem
to be okay for now.
