Thanks for fixing, DES.   Only, you have re-introduced some of the 
bugs.  You need to use getpwnam_r or copy the contents of the returned 
struct passwd before continuing.  Unfortunately, I'm about to grab a 
plane and be totally unavailable for the next 24 hours or, and mostly 
unavailable for the next few weeks.  :-/
