But why commit in the first place? The scripts are old and as you say
haven't been used with the current state of the world. Don't you think
it behooves committers to make sure their commits are appropriate and
in line with current affairs? What exactly did you think was the benefit
to the project to commit these scripts now instead of when they were
more applicable: a year ago?
