Well, the discussion that Robert refers to is one which came
up in -hackers. It wasn't a discussion about this exact
outcome. It just a discussion from a user trying to build a
minimal freebsd system.
I think these knobs are a helpful first-cut at trimming down
the freebsd distribution, but I wouldn't want to see many more
of these added without more of an -arch discussion and some
clear idea as to what we're hoping to do and how it should be
done (and in particular, how we make sure that whatever is
done will remain up-to-date as the system changes). I suspect
that Warner is right, and we could get ourselves into a mess
if we jump into some easy-looking solution.
