The issue is apparently that the application is not consistently using
uname(1) or uname(3) to poll for the OS version. Or maybe it is but
the tinderbox is not setting the UNAME_* variables to spoof it
(UNAME_VERSION is an old mechanism that I was using with a custom
uname(1) wrapper script, before the UNAME_* environment variable
support was added).
