Do you intend to commit port updates while there are maintainer updates
pending in the PR queue?  That was the root commit that started this
thread.

Do you feel that it is burdensome to request sending the maintainner
email about a trivial change as you commit it as a courtesy, with
perhaps mentioning it in the commit message?

These are the points that I am trying to make here.
