On 4.x only i386 has LINT, alpha doesn't have one.  In 5.x and above, however, 
there is /sys/conf/NOTES and /sys/<arch>/conf/NOTES for several archs (i386, 
alpha, sparc64, amd64, ia64, and pc98).
