Well, it is detected as 852/855. In piciconf -lv output, it features as
(lines may wrap):
vgapci0 at pci0:0:2:0: class=0x030000 card=0x05621014 chip=0x35828086
rev=0x02 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Intel Corporation'
device = '82852GM/GME/GMV/PM, 855GM/GME Montara Integrated
Graphics Device'
class = display
subclass = VGA
vgapci1 at pci0:0:2:1: class=0x038000 card=0x05621014 chip=0x35828086
rev=0x02 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Intel Corporation'
device = '82852GM/GME/GMV/PM, 855GM/GME Montara Integrated
Graphics Device'
class = display
In dmesg output:
vgapci0: <VGA-compatible display> port 0x1800-0x1807 mem
0xe0000000-0xe7ffffff,0xd0000000-0xd007ffff irq 11 at device 2.0 on pci0
agp0: <Intel 8285xM (85xGM GMCH) SVGA controller> on vgapci0

agp0: aperture size is 128M
drm0: <Intel i852GM/i855GM GMCH> on vgapci0
vgapci0: child drm0 requested pci_enable_busmaster
info: [drm] AGP at 0xe0000000 128MB

info: [drm] AGP at 0xe0000000 128MB

The xorg intel(4) driver sees it as:
Chipset: "852GM/855GM"
Oh, and this is on 8.0-CURRENT/i386 from 20th Sept. (machine is a
ThinkPad R50e)
Let me know if I can be of any further help.
