I'm having quite similar problems (I reported them earlier this year on
this list) using different AHC cards (2940UW, 39160N) on Alpha (SX164)
with bunch of different SCSI drives (Seagates ST39173W, ST34572N and
another one with DEC's firmware -- DEC RZ28D, and IBM DDYS-T18350N). The
problems arised when I started to use Justin's AIC7xxx driver while the
same setup ran rock-solid with Doug's driver. If I limit TCQ depth *for
all* disks hanging off AHC controller to 32 or less, everything runs rock
solid. It might just be, that even the old driver would fail, however, the
default TCQ depth was 8 there.
