I'm experiencing a similar problem.  The 5.0.17 version of the driver
for Linux randomly misses devices under both 2.1.104pre1 and 2.0.33.
No such problems with 5.0.13 in 2.1.103.

I have a pr440fx with the latest BIOS, and the different markings on 
the 7880 are AQWA702 / 722511 / BB52041.  If this isn't a B-revision
chip, then I have no idea...
