You should investigate why it is happening. DO you have a properly configured screen saver able to lock the screen? (for example xfce4-screensaver, which should actually work) Have you tried in a clean setup (for example by creating a new user and log= ging in as that with a brand new xfce configuration)? This could help identify w= hat is going wrong. I also notice the links you sent provide various possible solutions have you tried those? Your patch is simply removing upstream code working as intended, and, as you already state, removing a reasonable check and informative message that oth= er users could find useful, for example to identify misconfigured systems. I'm sorry but I cannot accept such an hack in the tree to impose to all use= rs, when they could find the check useful.
