Can you reproduce with graphics/mesa-devel? If may have an upstream fix.
Otherwise, it doesn't include zink and swrast, so should fail hard instead of
giving buggy experience.

Can you reproduce under x11-wm/ctwm? It doesn't have OpenGL or XRENDER
compositor thus relying on very primitive framebuffer compositing built into
Xorg itself.

May be related to bug 267915 i.e., mesa-dri regression before it was conflated
with drm-kmod regression.
