     My questions remained unanswered by the time this was closed.  In the
comments made by manu@ when closing quite a few other PRs on 19 November 2021,
he appears to disagree with the FreeBSD project's web site, which says that
FreeBSD 12.2 is still a supported release.  Perhaps he should either change the
web site or change his comments.
     Although this PR ended being closed in the manner I had expected, it was
another example of a PR being dispensed with in a thoroughly unprofessional 
way.
