How did you try to "configure" your network?
Was there a
service netif restart
involved because even your lo0 went DOWN?
Everything that follows there is described in 271979 now, just given you are on
stable the KASSERT won't trigger and you see a later follow-up.

We should leave this PR to the wpa problem; I added cy@ to Cc: yesterday on the
PR.
Given I didn't see any updates and WiFi hasn't changed since before RC1 I still
wonder if other kernel changes are a problem here?

I'll start a bisect.
